The Bank Job Movie Story
The gang rents a leather goods shop near the bank and begins tunneling beneath the vault. Using a thermal lance, they break through the floor into the vault and start looting the safety deposit boxes. During the heist, Terry notices Martine’s interest in box 118 and uncovers some compromising photos. However, their operation is compromised when a ham radio operator overhears the gang’s walkie-talkie communications and alerts the police. By the time the authorities arrive at the bank, the gang has already escaped. The robbery shakes influential figures who utilized the bank, including Lew Vogel, who kept a ledger of police payoffs inside. Vogel contacts Michael X in Trinidad, who deduces that Gale Benson—the lover of his associate Hakim Jamal—is spying for MI5 and subsequently murders her.
Vogel becomes suspicious of Dave’s presence outside the bank and has him kidnapped and tortured for information. Under duress, Dave eventually gives in, leading Vogel to instruct corrupt policemen Gerald Pyke and Nick Burton to kidnap Eddie from Terry’s garage. Meanwhile, Terry discovers explicit photographs of government officials among their haul and uses them to secure passports and new identities for the gang.
