The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. It was written and directed by Matt Reeves in collaboration with Peter Craig. It is a reboot of the Batman film series produced by DC Films. Robert Pattinson plays Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. In his second year of fighting crime in Gotham City, Batman uncovers corruption linked to his own family while pursuing the mysterious serial killer Riddler (Dano) who targets the city’s elite.

Development began after Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in 2013. Affleck had signed on to direct, produce, co-write, and star in The Batman, but then dropped out due to reservations about the project. Reeves took over in February 2017 and reworked the story, removing references to the DCEU in order to focus on a younger version of the character compared to Affleck’s earlier vigilante roles. He sought to explore Batman’s detective side more than previous films, drawing inspiration from the films of Alfred Hitchcock and the New Hollywood era.

I think it actually works. A lot of people want to say things like, “Oh, you can barely see anything in this movie, the lighting is terrible!” Some people hate movies for stupid reasons. There is no movie that this doesn’t happen to. I actually think it’s stupid that these people never learn their lesson.
The reason this movie is dark is because it’s Batman. The lighting is really good and it just darkens the atmosphere of the movie. I’ve watched this movie many times and I never get bored of it because it’s really amazing. That’s why I love this new version of Batman.
